Herbs from the garden – a gift for our customers

Can you imagine the price of a vegetable or spice exceeding that of silver? Hardly likely, yet here is the proof. Common vegetables here cost between € 2 and € 4 / kg in Europe, while exotic varieties like hot peppers run around € 10.

From our garden - we are giving away our surplus

Silver price* € 1.91 / g, or € 1,911.68 / kg. 

In Britain, for instance, major supermarkets like Morrisons, Tesco, and Asda currently charge £2 per gram - meaning £ 2,000 (or € 2,336) per kilogram - for chives. That significantly exceeds the price of silver!  

Herbs and striking a fortune 

On its own website, the well-known firm Schwartz charges even more: £ 2.30 per gram, working out to £ 2,300 - or € 2,680 - per kilogram !! 

Home cooks are advised to use the product "generously." At a price of £2,000 per kilogram, a recipe calling for three tablespoons would require herbs worth about £ 18 (or € 21), given that a tablespoon holds around 3 g of dried herbs. Great! For that price, you could get a decent lunch at a restaurant. What about placing your order like this: "Please leave out the schnitzel ..." 

A similar situation in the USA

The same scenario plays out here too - in Germany, Austria, France, and other countries. 
Whether it’s Ankerkraut, Ostmann (both German) or Bien Manger and Ducros (French), prices range from a hefty € 462 to € 620 / kg. 

So, what’s the snag with our offer? To qualify, the total order value must exceed € 27 - splitting it across two orders placed on the same day is fine, too.
Upon request, we will then send a small envelope containing around 5 g to the customer, free of charge.

Our herbs—depending on the season:
Air-dried outdoors in the shade; pure plants just as they grow; washed and hand-picked - done properly, just as it has been done for millennia. A blessing on them, and off they go!

Seek and ye shall find: Search for the company name, the country, plus the product type (e.g., "Gewürze" (DE), "spices" (EN), "épices" (FR) and then the specific item (e.g., "Schnittlauch" (DE) / "chives" (EN) / "ciboulette" (FR).
